Private Label Manufacturing
End-to-End Solutions For Your Own Cosmetics Brand
What is private label manufacturing?
Private label manufacturing is how a brand brings a cosmetics product it will sell under its own label to life, without building its own production facility, by using a specialized manufacturer's infrastructure. The brand makes its own decisions on formulation, packaging and marketing, while an experienced manufacturer handles production, filling, packaging and regulatory processes. Aris Kozmetik, based in Istanbul, works on this model across fragrance, hair care and skin-body care product groups.
What is the difference between private label and contract manufacturing?
"Contract manufacturing" describes a production model, while "private label" describes the type of brand that results from it. A brand obtains a private label product by having it contract-manufactured. In everyday use the two terms are often interchangeable, but the distinction is this: contract manufacturing describes "how it's made," private label describes "whose brand it's sold under."
Comparing private label, white label and contract manufacturing
| Model | Formulation | Packaging | Brand distinctiveness |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private label | Developed specifically for the brand | Designed specifically for the brand | High — the product belongs only to that brand |
| White label | Standard, sold to multiple brands | Only the label changes | Low — the same product can appear under different brands |
| Contract manufacturing (general term) | Varies by case | Varies by case | Describes the production model, not the brand type |
How does the private label manufacturing process work?
The process consists of six main steps, each building on the output of the one before it:
- 1. Discovery and brief: The brand idea, target market and product positioning are clarified.
- 2. Formulation and sampling: The formula is determined through trend analysis, ingredient planning and fragrance direction; laboratory samples are prepared.
- 3. Packaging and design: Bottle, cap and box are selected, and label/brand identity design is carried out.
- 4. Regulatory work: UTS registration, Ministry of Health application and GS1 barcode processes are carried out.
- 5. Production and filling: Production is carried out in compliance with GMP and ISO standards, using the approved formula and packaging.
- 6. Delivery and export: The product is prepared for domestic delivery or export to more than 23 countries.
What are the cost components of private label manufacturing?
Total cost is made up of formulation and sampling work, packaging sourcing (bottle, cap, box, label), production (filling and packaging), regulatory processing (UTS, GS1), and graphic design services where applicable. Each of these components varies by product type, order quantity and chosen packaging; that is why a concrete cost figure is shared during the quote stage once the product and quantity are finalized. There is no single fixed "private label manufacturing price" — every project is priced according to its own scope.
What makes private label manufacturing different at Aris Kozmetik?
Although Aris Kozmetik was founded in 2024, it draws on the industry experience of Sarıkoç Holding's family companies, active in production, supply and industry since 1980. The entire operation — from formulation to packaging, from UTS processes to export infrastructure — is managed by a single Istanbul-based team, so the brand does not have to coordinate separately with multiple suppliers. Production is carried out in compliance with GMP and ISO standards, and experience operating in more than 23 countries directly guides brands targeting export. Low-MOQ options available in certain product groups also make it possible for new brands to enter the market without taking on major risk.
